The projects for term 3 continue. The boys had to create a 3D model of something. They also had to submit an isometric drawing of it. Our beautiful cat, Garfield Naidoo was Max's inspiration to make a piece of cat furniture. We found easy instructions for this at http://www.evilmadscientist.com/2008/cardboard-cat-chaise/
Max used an old TV box to create his couch and then dug in my material stash to add some style to his creation.
Don't
you just love recieving emails and other electronic messages that start
with a heartwarming story that can sometimes bring tears to your eyes,
and then proceed to threaten you with all sorts of horrific outcomes
should you not immediately pass the message on to freak out at least 10
more of your friends?
Admittedly I do sometimes pass those messages on,
not in a far reaching attempt to secure my good fortune or increase my
cash flow, but instead to share the beautiful words......which is very
easily done by deleting the creepy bit at the end before sending!
This
world and those I care for are far better served recieving encouraging
words during hard times than veiled threats me thinks
Quite excited to see that Max and Connor were chosen as today's profile picture for Facebook's Twiniversity, one of the fastest growing online groups for parents of multiples.
I’m
the type of person who enjoys the odd Sunday drive to wherever the road
takes me, however not generally at the same pace an old couple may
enjoy in their vintage vehicle.
Sunday’s beautiful weather inspired mom and I to take a gander into
the Midlands. Having the boys and their friend Greg with us, we decided
it best to visit a spot where everyone could enjoy themselves. The
Piggly Wiggly Country Village came to
mind as I’ve had the good fortune of popping in there once before with
friends.
It is a wonderful family venue with an array of quaint stores
surrounding a mini putt-putt course, a jungle gym and a good patch of
grass for youngsters to release a bit of energy. In two shakes of a
leg, the boys were off to play a round of miniature golf while Mom and I
settled ourselves down to a cup of coffee on the comfy couches of the
Piggly Wiggly Restaurant. The boys tracked us down a bit later as we
browsed through the shops, only to grab some cash for a pizza and a
juice, which they went off to enjoy on the opposite side of the Village.
We found them again sometime later thoroughly enjoying the art of wax
at the Candle Dipping Shop. Max, having chosen a fairly simple candle
to colour, was deep in conversation with Madeleine the shops owner. She
was patiently teaching him a very interesting wax technique using
water. Max was captivated by the experience and suggested that we should
definitely experiment further at home.
All too soon the fun filled day
had run away with us and it was time to go. It was a truly fabulous
experience to drive home to the background sounds of laughter and
excited chatter about the amazing time had by the three sweaty bodies in
the rear of the vehicle. I even got a “Thank-you mom”. See you again
soon Piggly Wiggly Country Village!
While
the boys hung out with their granny, I ducked off for a bit of me time.
This weekends Ladies Pamper Party and Beauty Fair at Augusta Country
Estates Golf Club was entirely fabulous, and while similar to the last,
this one afforded us more pampering. For the price of a ticket my
friend and I received a goodie bag full of delectable samples of high
end products, slippers, body products and a
beautiful yellow rose on arrival. This was followed by a welcome drink
which ranged from our choice of sherry, wine or fruit juice.
The club had been transformed into a pampering fiesta on both floors.
There were so many delightful free treatments to choose from, we almost
didn’t know where to begin…..manicures, mini-facials, make-over, hand
treatments, foot massages, neck and shoulder massages, hairstyling, the
list goes on. The treatments on offer were mostly undertaken by
students from the Beauty Academy as part of their training as well as
some sponsored by individual suppliers. My amazing friend didn’t stand a
chance as I took the opportunity to test out a few of the auto settings
on my new Nikon D5100, and she became my model. (Photo album to be
loaded later). This seemed to cause some murmurings amongst the crowds
of ladies, a few of whom enquired about why my buddy had the paparazzi
following her around – LOL.
Each of our tickets were also
entered into the lucky draw and the range of prizes was stunning. To
add even more hype, the handbag game gave us another opportunity to win
spot prizes if you could make it to the MC with the called for items
faster than the next woman. That led to some hilarious antics as rather a
few highly competitive women dug frantically in their handbags to haul
out what was called for.
Amidst the beauty regimes you could
also treat yourself to a bit of a shopping spree with many lovely things
on offer at brilliant prices. Once again I made a beeline for the
cupcakes, a delicious indulgence, after which I picked up two super
jerseys from Simply Stunning fashions at a discounted price. I also
spotted a beautiful handbag which my sneaky mate later surprised me with
as a gift. What a special friend!
With so much action on the
go, one does get a tad peckish. It’s comforting to know that a quick
trip up to the bar area yields a large range of cheese and biscuits
which can be joyfully washed down by another glass of wine! I have heard
rumours that there is to be another ladies day in October, so I will
definitely be keeping my ears to the ground.
